“Your compassionate way of explaining mindfulness with our children and ourselves is great.
It really gave me ideas to put into action on a daily basis. This world needs more inputs like yours.”

Anonymous Father of Two

“We still talk about you often and employ many of the skills you taught us.  We even have two of the posters we made with you on our door so we look at them every day as leaving our house as a wonderful reminder of our work with you!”

Frequently asked questions

The length of therapy or parent coaching depends on your concerns and goals.  During your initial intake session, we discuss your concerns and background, then co-create therapy goals and a time-line accordingly. The length tends to vary between 3 and 12 months, with a weekly or biweekly frequency.

Whether to choose parent coaching or family counseling depends on the reasons why you are looking for help for your family.

Parents who are aware that conflicts or inconsistencies in their parenting styles seek parent coaching to improve their strategies, in order to decrease the challenging behaviors of their children.

When any family member has a known or suspected emotional disorder, trauma or abusive experiences, specialized therapy/counseling is required to manage the symptoms, as standard parenting skills are not sufficient. See other questions to ask yourself before choosing here.

The health insurance benefits for therapy or parent coaching differ between companies and plans. I do not receive payment directly from insurance companies.  However, your insurance company may reimburse you directly for the cost of psychotherapy or parent coaching with an out-of-network provider. I will provide you with the necessary receipts (“superbills”). I encourage you to call your insurance company before the first appointment, to find out what your benefits are for services with an out-of-network provider, if there is a deductible, and how many sessions per year are covered.

Children need the support of their peers to practice social-emotional skills and mutual connection, in the context of play interactions facilitated by a therapist. Children learn from each other and give each other the message that “I am not the only one” and “we can do this together”; thus, gaining a sense of acceptance, belonging and resilience.

Professionals working with children (therapists, counselors, teachers, case managers, social workers, etc.) need skills for social-emotional challenges, family engagement, team-building, stress management and burnout prevention. Workshops and coaching sessions can be conducted online or brought to your location, tailored to your desired emphasis and duration.  My approach is trauma-informed, bilingual, based on Resilience and the Pyramid Model.
